Current covid-19 situation in Polk County.
  • Hospitalizations related to covid have gone above 300 to 307. Regardless of this increase there are still plenty of beds available for other emergencies.
  • Our 14 day moving average is now at 13.00%. The last time it was this this high was July 31st. There is no doubt we are hitting the holiday surge.
  • Through yesterday we have vaccinated 6,314.
The BOCC took action today to establish a phone reservation system for the Florida Dept of Health in Polk County. The state phone lines have not been able to handle the calls. This will allow citizens to call in and make reservations for the covid 19 vaccine. There will be dozens of individuals taking calls for reservations. Even with this many people answering calls, we expect thousands of individuals to call in and wait times will be long. Please go to polk-county.net for the details.
