Faith Based Republican Club of West Polk

February 2, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Upcoming Meetings and Guest Speakers!

March 2, 2023

6:00 pm-7:30 pm

Guest Speaker-Jim Guth

Jim Guth is Chair of the Polk County Republican Executive Committee (PCREC). Jim is a retired Navy Captain who had command of two nuclear powered submarines and retired from a position where I managed a program with a budget of over $1.5B.

Since moving to Polk County, in addition to being PCREC Chairman, I have served as chairman of the Polk County Board of Adjustments, served on the Sheriff’s Citizen Advisory Board, attended about fifteen year’s worth of county commission meetings. I narrowly lost a race for county commissioner in 2018.

I was a Florida delegate at the RNC convention in 2016 which nominated Trump. I served as the CD-10 Chairman and the Florida state veteran outreach co-chairman for that following election. I served on the RPOF budget committee.

While I was Secretary of the REC (2018-2019), I restored our records and by-laws to compliance and taught REC Secretary courses for the RPOF at several locations around the state.

I have served on the board and as President of the Republican Club of Solivita, the largest Republican Club in Florida.

I currently serve as a Veteran Mentor for Florida’s Tenth Circuit Court Problem Solving Docket (a volunteer position).

I am also on the Board of Directors of a large hospital chain (also a volunteer position).

I consult privately, providing technical and managerial input in the areas of autonomy, undersea vehicles, nuclear safety and ocean engineering.

I am a life member of the NRA and member of several service organizations:

US Naval Submarine League (life)

American Legion

United States Submarine Veterans, Inc.

National Defense Industrial Association (life)

United States Navy League (life)

I also attend the Polk County Veteran Council meetings

6:00 pm-7:30 pm

Guest Speaker-Mark Philllips

Mark’s topic of discussion will be “The Exceptional Neighborhood.”

Due to his persistent belief in Republican Party values beginning with his work on

Ronald Reagan’s campaigns, his dedication to core-conservative issues and our campaign initiatives, combined with his zealous attitude to build grassrools impact,

Mark Phillips has displayed a strong desire to serve and lead, beth within. our County Party and throughout the State of Florida. He is a frequent speaker at many of our County Republican Clubs, providing both historie and realistic assessment of where our Party’s appeal and strengths can be enhanced to reach more voters and increase memberships.

Most notably, his rise to State Director of RNC Faith Engagement early in the 2016 clection cycle, strengthened our success to turn Pinellas County “Red Again” during the 2016 Presidential Campaign to Elect Donald Trump. This was due to his expertisc and knowledge of how to work among the pastoral leaderships locally and throughout the State, encouraging them to push voter registrations and increase biblically-based worldview voting from their church memberships. We saw a stark

increase in the evangelical voter turnout, both in crossovers and independents, for

our ticket. Thus, in the I-4 Corridor, Pinellas County displayed its Icadership and successful ground game to bring this swing state of Florida home for our GOP Victory.

I commend and endorse Mark Phillips for his personal leadership skill set – he

authentically engages people at the heart level and at the core conservative ideology level – and then ignites them into action through inspiration and invigorating friendship. His work ethie is unmatched in this regard.

DEFEND FREEDOM NIGHT

June 1, 2023

6:00 pm-7:30 pm

Guest Speaker-Sheriff Grady Judd

After beginning his career with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office as a dispatcher, Grady Judd quickly progressed through every rank – from Corporal to Colonel. As a small child growing up in

Polk County, Grady had dreamed of being Sheriff. In 2004, Polk County overwhelmingly elected him to serve as their Sheriff, fulfilling that childhood dream.

Sheriff Judd has earned higher education degrees through the Masters level and has graduated from the FBI National Academy, as well as several other prestigious law nforcement

academies, and has taught 23 years at both the University of South Florida and Florida Southern College. He is currently the Immediate Past President of the Major County Sheriffs of America, a national organization serving counties with a population of 500,000 or more. Grady realizes that having proper priorities in place is important to success. Faith, family, and the men and women of the Sheriff’s Office along with the citizens of Polk County are the priorities that direct his life.

Grady has been married to his wife Marisa for 50 years, and has

two grown sons, and thirteen grandchildren.
