August 20 @ 7:00 am - 7:00 pm

Click HERE for August 20, 2024 Sample ballot!!

The August Voting Day in Florida is NOT just a Primary.

It is actual election day for all non-partisan seats up for election (Think School Board, for Example).

NPA Voters WILL have a ballot, but it will not include the partisan primaries.

They need to be encouraged to vote (again, think School Board)!!!!

The deadline to register to vote for this election is July 22nd. Polk County residents who are not yet registered to vote can submit a voter registration application form several ways:
  • Online here
  • Print an application form here
  • Pick up a form at one of the Supervisor’s offices or at public places around the county. For a list of locations, click here. Return the completed and signed form by mail to: Supervisor of Elections, P.O. Box 1460, Bartow FL, 33831. Or drop the form off at one of our two election offices. Click here for address information.
Florida is a Closed Primary State
According to Florida law, Florida is a Closed Primary State, meaning only voters registered with a political party can vote in that party’s primary elections. However, all registered voters, regardless of party affiliation, may vote on issues and nonpartisan contests.
Universal Primary
If all candidates in a primary race have the same party affiliation and the winner will have no opposition in the General Election, all qualified electors, regardless of party affiliation, may vote in the Primary Election for that contest.
FYI, This is applicable for the 2024 race for:
Public Defender,
County Commissioner District 5, and
Polk County Property Appraiser.
All voters may vote in these contests regardless of party affiliation.
