Congressman Greg Stuebe June 23, 2024

June 23, 2024

Dear Floridian:

President Biden intends to allow expiration of the Trump tax cuts, which will lead to the largest tax hike on workers, families, farmers, and small businesses in U.S. history. Thursday, I convened with local business leaders to discuss preserving President Trump’s pro-small business tax policies, emphasizing the importance of making Section 199A permanent. As Vice Chair of the Ways and Means Committee’s Main Street Tax Team, I’m taking their feedback to DC in our fight to preserve the Trump tax cuts.

Alongside Senators Rubio and Scott, I’m advocating against the Army Corps’ misinterpretation of the law threatening our hurricane risk reduction projects. We’re urging Committee leadership to support our legislative solution in this year’s Water Resources Development Act (WRDA).

Join us for Englewood Office Hours on June 26th at Englewood Chamber of Commerce, where my staff will assist with federal issues including Social Security, Medicare, and Veterans Affairs.

Rep. Greg Steube Holds Roundtable to Discuss Preserving Pro-Small Business Tax Policies

I met with Southwest Florida business leaders, the Wine & Spirits Wholesalers of America, the National Roofing Contractors Association, and the International Council of Shopping Centers in Sarasota to discuss the importance of President Trump’s pro-small business tax policies and the need to make Section 199A permanent. As Vice Chair of the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee’s Main Street Tax Team, we discussed how the Trump tax cuts have benefited local businesses and how critical Section 199A is for their operations. President Biden’s plan to raise taxes will increase the small business federal income tax from 21% to 43%, forcing tough decisions like layoffs or price hikes. I am committed to fighting for the preservation of the Trump tax cuts and protecting our small businesses from Biden’s significant tax increase proposals.

Fighting Misinterpretation by the Army Corps on Hurricane Risk Reduction Projects

I joined Senators Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, and my colleagues in the Florida delegation to challenge the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) misinterpretation of the law, which imposes burdensome requirements on Florida’s hurricane risk reduction projects. This misinterpretation undermines critical infrastructure and affects Floridians and visitors alike. We are urging Committee leadership to include our legislative solution in this year’s Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) to protect public infrastructure. This provision will safeguard lives and livelihoods in Florida by maintaining vital shoreline projects as originally agreed upon.
