Congressman Greg Steube September 8, 2024

September 8, 2024

Dear Floridian:

The recent tragic loss of American-Israeli Hersh Goldberg-Polin, held captive for 11 months before being murdered by Hamas, is a reminder of the ongoing evils perpetrated by Hamas terrorists. My heart goes out to his family and the families of the other Israeli hostages who were also murdered. This somber moment reminds us of the many hostages who remain in captivity, including Sagui Dekel-Chen. His loved ones in Sarasota, along with our entire community, is deeply concerned and pray for his safe return. We must continue to urge the Biden-Harris administration to act decisively in securing the freedom of all hostages.

introduced bipartisan legislation with Rep. Jared Moskowitz on Friday to ensure transparency in presidential library donations, helping to hold our leaders accountable to the highest ethical standards.

I’m also pleased to highlight the latest Veterans History Project interview with Vietnam War veteran, Specialist Paul Pelleschi, of Port Charlotte, whose story honors the sacrifices made by those who served.

Introducing Bipartisan Legislation to Ensure Transparency in Presidential Library Funding

I’ve introduced bipartisan legislation with Rep. Jared Moskowitz to bring greater transparency to presidential library donations. Right now, presidents can receive unlimited donations for their libraries while still in office, with donors—including foreign governments—remaining anonymous. This raises serious ethical concerns as presidents continue to wield immense power and influence. My legislation would require the disclosure of any donor contributing $200 or more and hold fundraising organizations accountable for false reporting. The American people deserve to know that our leaders aren’t being influenced by secret donors, and this bill ensures just that.

Announcing Veteran History Project Interview Featuring SP4 Paul Pelleschi, United States Army

I’m honored to highlight the latest interview in our Veterans History Project, featuring Specialist 4th Class Paul Pelleschi, a Vietnam War veteran from Port Charlotte. Specialist Paul Pelleschi’s story is a vital piece of our nation’s history, reflecting both the challenges and the courage of those who served during the Vietnam War. His words remind us of the sacrifices made by so many, often underappreciated, and the importance of honoring their contributions. Sharing his story ensures future generations understand the true cost of freedom.
