September 15, 2024 Dear Floridian: On Wednesday, we solemnly remembered the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and honor the bravery of those who responded with courage and selflessness. We will never forget our heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice and the resilience of our nation in the aftermath. Like many, 9/11 is the reason I joined the U.S. Army to serve our country. It was our generation’s call to fight terrorism, defend our freedoms, and protect our homeland from those who seek to destroy America. As we reflect on this day, we reaffirm our commitment to protecting the values and freedoms that define our great nation. I introduced the STOP WEIRD Act on Thursday to prevent taxpayer funds from being used for gender transition surgeries for illegal immigrants in DHS custody. That weird and disgusting policy position is supported by Vice President Kamala Harris and she could implement it today. We must safeguard our taxpayer dollars. I supported crucial legislation in the House aimed at countering the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party and protecting our national security. Introducing the STOP WEIRD Act to Block Taxpayer-Funded Transgender Surgeries for Illegal Immigrants I introduced the Stopping Transgender Operation Payments and Wacky Expenses for Illegal Residents and Detainees Act (STOP WEIRD Act) to ensure that no federal funds are used to provide gender transition procedures to individuals in DHS or HHS custody. Kamala Harris, the sitting Vice President and Democrat presidential nominee, has pledged to use taxpayer dollars to fund these surgeries for illegal immigrants, calling them a ‘medical necessity.’ This legislation is necessary to protect American taxpayers from this absurd and offensive misuse of federal funds. The CCP presents a massive and growing threat to our national security, economy, and values. Since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office, their weak foreign policy has emboldened our adversaries, diminishing America’s standing on the world stage. In response, we introduced over two dozen bills to secure American supply chains, protect American technology, and defend human rights. Legislation like the BIOSECURE Act and the End Chinese Dominance of Electric Vehicles Act aim to reduce the CCP’s leverage over critical industries and safeguard our national security.
