Congressman Greg Steube August 18, 2024

August 18, 2024

Dear Floridian:

As we continue to navigate the aftermath of Hurricane Debby, I’m committed to ensuring our community receives the support it needs. This week, I led a bipartisan group of my House colleagues in urging the Senate to pass my bill, H.R. 5863, The Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2023. This has been a crusade I’ve fought since Hurricane Ian. My crucial legislation will provide tax relief to Americans impacted by Hurricane Debby and over 300 other disasters across the country.

After strong advocacy from my office, the White House approved a Major Disaster Declaration for Sarasota and Manatee Counties, making residents eligible for FEMA Individual Assistance. You can apply here . We’ll continue fighting for similar support for Charlotte and Lee Counties.

Lastly, The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is opening two Business Recovery Centers to provide essential resources and support. These centers are designed to help businesses navigate the recovery process effectively. Don’t miss this opportunity to get the assistance you need.

Rep. Greg Steube Leads Colleagues in Bipartisan Push for Disaster Tax Relief

I’ve led a bipartisan group of my House colleagues in urging the Senate to take up and pass my bill, H.R. 5863, The Federal Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2023. This legislation, which passed the House with overwhelming support, provides critical tax relief to Americans impacted by Hurricane Debby and over 300 other disasters across 48 states. This has been a crusade I’ve fought since Hurricane Ian. With the Senate’s failure to pass a broader tax package that included this bill, it’s crucial that they now act swiftly to bring my stand-alone disaster relief bill to the floor. Millions of Americans, including those in Florida, need this relief now.

THE FLORIDIAN | Republican Lawmakers Blast Biden-Harris Admin After Report Surfaces 99 Terrorists Entered U.S. Illegally

“Rep. Steube referred to the findings of this report as evidence of ‘dereliction of duty’ by the Biden-Harris administration and Sec. Mayorkas. ‘Under Biden-Harris, more than 360 individuals on the terror watchlist have been encountered at our border, and now we learned 99 have actually been recorded as released into our country. That’s a track record of 1 in 4! And what about the gotaways? Border security is national security, and the Biden-Harris open border has caused America to be more vulnerable to a terrorist attack than we’ve been in years,’ said Rep. Steube. ‘This is dereliction of duty, and absolutely no one has been held accountable. To say the least, the Senate should finish impeaching Mayorkas.  Kamala Harris has clearly shown the American people she can’t be trusted with our safety or security.’”
