August 11, 2024 Dear Floridian: As Hurricane Debby’s impacts continue to affect our district, we’re focused on securing the necessary federal resources for a full recovery. After urging from my office, the White House approved a Major Disaster Declaration for certain counties in Florida. Residents of Sarasota and Manatee counties who were impacted by Debby are eligible to Apply for FEMA Individual Assistance . While I’m grateful they recognized the immediate need in Sarasota, Manatee, and some northern counties, we’ll keep fighting for Individual Assistance for Charlotte and Lee. Additionally this week, I joined my colleagues in the Florida delegation in a bipartisan effort to urge President Biden to swiftly activate Public Assistance Category A for debris removal to expedite our recovery efforts. Please stay informed and prepared with crucial safety tips for dealing with the ongoing record flooding in our district. It’s important to always prepare for the next storm. You will find resources and a Disaster Preparedness Checklist on my website . As the Paris Olympics come to a close today, please join me in congratulating FL-17’s incredible Olympians! A special shoutout to Clark Dean, Emma Weyant, Stephen Nedoroscik, Brody Malone, Jeremiah Davis, and Mary Carolynn Tucker for representing our district and Team USA with excellence. Securing a Major Disaster Declaration for Hurricane Debby
I wrote to President Biden earlier this week, urging him to upgrade Hurricane Debby’s declaration from an emergency to a major disaster. It specifically called for Individual Assistance to be made available to Floridians, many of whom are underinsured and faced extreme personal damages from Debby. This upgrade is essential for Floridians to access critical recovery resources and achieve a full recovery. On Saturday evening, the White House approved the request for Sarasota County, Manatee County, and other northern Florida counties, opening FEMA Individual Assistance. We’ll keep fighting for Individual Assistance for Charlotte and Lee, and notify you when/if a request is approved.
Sarasota residents and Manatee residents can Apply for FEMA here or call 1-800-621-3362.

As Florida recovers from Hurricane Debby, I joined my Florida colleagues in a bipartisan effort urging President Biden to swiftly activate Public Assistance Category A for debris removal. This critical measure will enhance public safety, expedite recovery, and minimize environmental impact. The Suncoast and surrounding areas need this immediate support to navigate the aftermath of the storm effectively. We’re committed to ensuring our communities have the resources they need for a rapid and safe recovery.

It’s important that everyone in our community stays informed and prepared. Please view FLSERT’s crucial Flood Safety tips for during and after the flood. Your safety and the safety of your loved ones should be the top priority as we navigate through the aftermath of this storm. Stay safe, everyone!

THE FLORIDIAN | Republican Lawmakers Blast Biden-Harris Admin After Report Surfaces 99 Terrorists Entered U.S. Illegally
“Rep. Steube referred to the findings of this report as evidence of ‘dereliction of duty’ by the Biden-Harris administration and Sec. Mayorkas. ‘Under Biden-Harris, more than 360 individuals on the terror watchlist have been encountered at our border, and now we learned 99 have actually been recorded as released into our country. That’s a track record of 1 in 4! And what about the gotaways? Border security is national security, and the Biden-Harris open border has caused America to be more vulnerable to a terrorist attack than we’ve been in years,’ said Rep. Steube.”

“Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Tuesday that Vice President Kamala Harris’ pick of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as a running mate shows the hold the pro-Hamas faction has on the Democratic Party…’You have the far-left, progressive part of the Democratic Party that is running against Donald Trump, who brought prosperity and freedom and economic integrity to our country, and the opposite of that,’ Steube said.”
