Getting Your Money Back

I am thrilled to report that my office has gotten nearly $3 million returned to constituents in owed VA, Social Security or Medicare benefits or IRS payments since January! Too often, Americans attempting to secure the veteran benefits, IRS or Social Security payments they have earned are met with delays. I am pleased that we have been able to intercede on behalf of so many constituents to ensure they receive the services and compensation they have earned.

My constituent services staff work diligently with agency liaisons on a constituent’s behalf to answer questions, find solutions, or simply attempt to cut through the red tape. A veteran in Lady Lake contacted my office regarding delays in his appeals that were pending at the Board of Veterans Appeals. Our office submitted an inquiry, began monitoring the process and provided regular reports to the veteran. After a mostly favorable decision by the Veterans Law Judge the veteran received a retro payment of over $100,000! If you need assistance with a federal agency, please call my office at 352-241-9220 or visit https://webster.house.gov/casework .

This Administration is Stifling our Economy

Under Kamalanomics, the American people and the Job Market are being crushed. The latest jobs report revealed only 12,000 jobs were added in October, coming well under expectations. Make no mistake, this disappointing report is a direct result of the Biden-Harris policies that have burdened small businesses and driven up costs for hardworking Americans. From record inflation to rising prices, the American people cannot afford the weak leadership of the Biden-Harris Administration. I will continue fighting to reform Washington and oppose my colleagues’ exorbitant and dangerous spending habits. I’m confident we can once again have the greatest economy in history.

Urging USDA to Expedite Aid

Florida’s farmers experienced billions in damage and losses from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Last week, I along with the entire Florida delegation urged the U.S. Department of Agriculture to expedite critical aid to help Florida’s agricultural industry get back on its feet. These back-to-back major hurricanes have decimated Florida agriculture, our state’s second largest industry, which generates more than $182.6 billion in annual revenue and provides more than 2.5 million jobs. As your U.S. Representative, it is my responsibility to work with USDA to best assist the producers who feed our nation.

Operation Blue Roof Deadline Extended

As we continue to recover from the recent Hurricanes, I want to share with you an update. The Operation Blue Roof sign-up deadline has been extended by nine days through Thursday, Nov. 14. This program is available for homeowners and permanently occupied rental properties, provides fiber-reinforced, industrial-strength sheeting to protect storm-damaged roofs until homeowners can make permanent repairs. Residents impacted by Hurricane Milton can sign up for this no-cost service by visiting blueroof.gov or calling 888-ROOF-BLU (888-766-3258). I will continue working with my colleagues in the Florida delegation to ensure Floridians get the assistance they need as we recover.

Seeing and Serving You

Last week, I was blessed to attend the 100th Birthday Celebration of Irving Locker, a World War II veteran, D-Day Invasion, Battle of the Bulge, and Concentration Camp Liberator hosted by the Villagers for Veterans. Mr. Locker was escorted to the celebration by members of the Combat Veteran Motorcycle Association Orlando Chapter and the Village Nomads. I presented a letter of recognition to Mr. Locker, a true American Hero, with a remarkable story. I was honored to recognize the faithfulness that he has exemplified to his family, community, and country over the last century. I am grateful for Mr. Locker’s sacrifices to protect our liberty and advance the cause of freedom around the world. Happy 100th  Birthday Mr. Locker!

I had the opportunity to visit the Winter Garden Commerce Center, a Class A industrial and office park located in the City of Winter Garden. I toured businesses to learn about operations, and the services provided to our community.

I visited Maddox Electric Company, Inc., a leader in electrical construction for Central Florida for almost three decades. They offer commercial or industrial electrical services from idea to operation.

I also visited Quality Roofing, a commercial and residential roofing contractor. They offer repairs, inspection, and replacements meeting the state of Florida building code standards.

One of the issues I hear the most from small business owners is the challenge of finding skilled workers. I am passionate about improving and expanding access to career and technical education. I toured the new Orange Technical College- West Campus, Central Florida’s primer technical education provider. I was encouraged by their extensive career and technical programs ranging from architecture and construction to human services. Thank you, Orange Technical Institute-West Campus for offering enriching and diverse pathways that prepares students to be successful!

I spoke at the Apopka Rotary Club and shared the services my office can provide to constituents with issues involving a federal agency. I can often intervene on a constituents behalf to answer questions, find solutions, or simply attempt to cut through the red tape. If you are a constituent in Congressional District 11 in need of assistance with a federal agency, call 352-241-9220 or visit my website.

Constituent Corner

A constituent from Sumter County changed bank accounts due to fraudulent activity and provided the new account information to the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS). However, DFAS misdirected his benefit to an incorrect account and the constituent was unable to reach anyone who could resolve the issue. Our office inquired with DFAS and the agency was able to make the necessary corrections and issue the accrued back payments.

Constituent services is a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you.

Survey

For several Congresses I have co-introduced legislation that would make Daylight Savings Time permanent.

Do you think we should make Daylight Saving Time permanent, which would end the twice-annual changing of clocks?

Results of last week’s survey which asked…”Do you think the Biden-Harris Administration’s soft on crime and open border policies are responsible for this increase in crime?”
