The Webster WireListening to FloridiansDear Friends: Yesterday, we marked Veterans Day. Across generations, through changing times and challenges, our servicemen and women have answered the call with a steadfast courage that embodies the very best of the American spirit. In both times of peace and conflict, American’s veterans have upheld our most cherished ideals of liberty, justice, and the enduring strength of a free nation. There is no doubt that America’s heroes – and the families who stand beside them – have made tremendous sacrifices to ensure that our great nation stays free. We owe our service members a debt we can never repay. It was great to be in the community to celebrate this special day in which we honor our nation’s heroes. I was honored to attend the City of Ocoee’s 22nd Annual Veterans Day Ceremony. Ocoee resident Sherrí Gladney sang our National Anthem while the Ocoee Middle School Wind Ensemble played a medley of songs. The Ocoee Police and Fire Department Honor Guards presented the colors, and Ocoee High School Band member played Taps. A powerful message was given by guest speaker USMC Retired Maj. Barron Mills. On Friday, in Bushnell, I had the honor of speaking at the Sumter County Veterans Memorial Brick Ceremony at the Sumter County Historic Courthouse. The community was encouraged to purchase bricks in honor of their military family members. Eleven Veterans were honored at the ceremony by the placement of those bricks. It was a pleasure to thank the family members of those Veterans. In Leesburg, I was pleased to speak at the Veteran’s Picnic at the Mote-Morris House in Downtown Leesburg, hosted by Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory. I had a wonderful time thanking veterans and servicemembers in our community. Thank you, Roger Beyers, President, and 3rd Generation Owner of Beyers Funeral Home for this opportunity to honor our Veteran heroes!
On Veterans day, I participated in the Clermont Veterans Day Parade and Veterans Day Observance Ceremony hosted by South Lake Florida Submarine Veterans and co-hosted by American Legion Post 55. In Apopka, I shared a brief message honoring our Veterans at the VFW Post 10147 Ceremony at Kit Land Nelson Park. I honored their contributions and sacrifices, and called on all of our nation’s citizens to remember that the freedoms we all enjoy are not free. Thank you, Commander Dwight “Andy” Anderson, for welcoming all our Veterans and the Apopka community. Seeing and Serving You

Constituent CornerA veteran from Lake County contacted our office as he needed assistance with his VA claim, and we followed up with the agency on his behalf. Upon reviewing the request, the VA confirmed that the veteran did not have any claims on file. We contacted the veteran’s service officer who determined where the breakdown had occurred. After contacting the veteran, the correct forms were submitted, and the case was finally completed, resulting in a retro payment of just over $20,000. Constituent services is a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you. Survey
