The Webster Wire

Listening to Floridians

Dear Friends:

On Sunday, Joe Biden caved to Democrat elites and announced he would not seek reelection. For years, Democrats have labeled Republicans as a “threat to democracy” but after realizing they cannot cover up the failed policies of the Biden-Harris Administration, they subverted the will of 14 million Americans by forcing President Biden out of the 2024 race.

Make no mistake, the decision of President Biden does not take away from the fact that the policies from the Biden-Harris Administration have been disastrous for our county. Millions of Americans have known that the Biden-Harris Administration is incapable of governing the country, as their failed policies have left Americans less safe, less prosperous and abandoned around the world. The American people deserve a leader who is transparent, accountable, and committed to enacting policies that truly benefit our nation.

She Must Resign

Last week,  I called on United States Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to resign. It was abundantly clear in a bipartisan Congressional briefing from the Department of Justice and Homeland Security regarding the attempted assassination against President Donald Trump, that USSS Director Cheatle must take responsibility for the failure to stop the shooter before he attempted to assassinate President Trump and kill and harm others.

The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability held a hearing today  with U.S. Secret Service Director as the chief witness. She failed to answer clear, common sense questions from Democrat and Republican members. After this hearing, I co-introduced a resolution calling for immediate resignation of Director Cheatle.

The House Committee on Homeland Security  officially requested DHS Secretary Mayorkas provide the security plan for President Trump’s rally in Pennsylvania, including in particular the details for the perimeter and the building the shooter accessed. The Committee has also requested communications between DHS and Executive Office of the President regarding any potential increase or addition of protective resources to President Trump’s security detail; and the briefing materials used by Secretary Mayorkas and U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to brief President Joe Biden about the attempted assassination of President Trump.

I am confident that the House will conduct a thorough investigation into the attack, but the United States Secret Service needs a director who can successfully carry out the duties of the job.

Defending Limited Government

I am honored to once again receive the Defender of Limited Government Award from the Institute of Legislative Analysis for being one of the Top 100 Members of Congress that consistently fights for and supports policies that preserve the ideals of limited government. As a principled conservative, I will continue to advance policies that ensure our government is accountable to the American people and preserves their constitutional freedoms.

Seeing and Serving You

It was great to be back in the district, visiting the community and engaging with my constituents!

It was great to be with Hal last Sunday celebrating his 100th birthday! Pastor George Thomas of Celebration Baptist Church in Leesburg, and his congregation hosted a celebration for World War II, U.S. Army Sgt. Hal Urban’s 100th birthday. It was an honor to be with Sgt Urban’s friends and family and honor his long life and the impact he has made on those that know and love him. His commitment and dedication are admirable! I was pleased to publicly commend his perseverance and the long years of selfless service to our country and community by presenting a letter from myself and President Trump. Sgt. Urban, countless people have been influenced by your life, and I am honored to recognize the faithfulness that you have exemplified over the last century. Happy 100th Birthday and congratulations of a life well-lived!

I visited the new Horizon West American Legion Post 419 at the invitation of Commander Alan Adams. It was great to see so many of our local veterans and share with them actions I’ve taken in Congress to improve their VA benefits and hold the VA accountable for providing quality care. My staff and I seek to work diligently to provide veterans’ assistance if they’re running into roadblocks with the Veterans Administration. As a result, my office has successfully gotten more than $15 million returned to veteran constituents from the VA and other agencies in compensation, pension, and other retroactive payments. If you or a veteran you know needs assistance with getting answers or benefits from the VA, please contact my office .

It’s great to meet with local businesses that promote Florida tourism and provide fun and historical experiences for Floridians and our tourists. The Herron Family, owners of Dora Queen Cruises located in Tavares, invited me to tour their 80-foot New Orleans style paddlewheel boat. They offer 2-hour cruises on Lake Dora and unique private events to our local community.

I got an update on the McLean family business, Uncle Matt’s Organic. It was great to spend time with Owner, Matt McLean, while having the opportunity to taste several different delicious juices they produce. Thank you, Matt, for producing high quality juice, using premium 100% organically-grown fruit that is free from synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.

I was pleased to visit and tour Windy Acres Farm Festivities, Inc., in Fruitland Park. Owned by the Galbreath family since 1948, Bill Galbreath, Dylan Galbreath, and Christy Kitt, currently manage beautiful property events. The calendar is full of events! I was happy to hear the family’s future plans to develop an RV Park. Thank you, Galbreath family, for your amazing business ventures and for being a part of Lake County farming and festivities for over 75 years!

Pam Jones, my Community Relations Representative in Orange County attended the West Orange Chamber 10 Year Anniversary Recognition of Gymnastics USA with President and CEO Stephen Lewis of the West Orange Chamber. Gymnastics USA is the biggest gymnastic center in the state of Florida. The goal of Gymnastics USA is to provide clients with an outstanding athletic experience. Gymnastics USA strives to offer a place for families to come together as a part of something every community should have, a positive and safe environment for children to grow and learn.

Austin and Zander Arthur, brothers, are the Founders of Gymnastics USA in Winter Garden. Zander and his wife, Jackie, are now the owners and operators. Chamber ambassadors came out to celebrate with Arthur Family.

Cindy Brown, my Community Relations Representative for the City of Wildwood, attended the grand opening celebration of the Humble Native’s beautiful Market, Café, and Children’s Boutique located at 819 S Main Street in Wildwood. This new women-owned, family operated, and locally sourced business is another great example of successful entrepreneurs who love to serve their community. Congratulations, Cheyenne and Kristina! We wish you the best in all your endeavors!

Your servant,

Daniel Webster
Member of Congress

Constituent Corner

A constituent from Sumter County’s Social Security Disability claim was approved in January of 2024. Six months later, however, he continued to await his benefits. Our office inquired with the agency concerning the issue and received a response less than two weeks later stating that the constituent would receive a lump sum retroactive payment of over $60,000 along with his regular monthly benefits.

Constituent services is a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you.
