The Webster Wire
Listening to Floridians
Dear Friends:
Thanks to the failed policies of the Biden-Harris Administration, inflation and gas prices have skyrocketed – making the American Dream unaffordable. Last week I joined American’s for Prosperity to hear directly from my constituents how these policies impacting them and their families. AFP partnered with local gas stations in Apopka to drop the price of gas to show Americans what gas prices could look like if we remove barriers standing in the way of an abundant supply of American energy.
Impeachment Inquiry
The House Committees on Judiciary, Oversight, and Ways and Means recently released a report on the impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden. The evidence produced in the report shows that Joe Biden abused his public office to enrich the Biden family and Biden business associates. Despite the efforts of the Biden-Harris Administration to obstruct the impeachment inquiry, House Republicans were able to uncover the facts and deliver the truth to the American people. I applaud Chairman James Comer, Chairman Jim Jordan, and Chairman Jason Smith for conducting a number of hearings and investigating this matter. Government accountability and transparency are among my top priorities, and I am committed to ensuring that President Biden and his Administration are held accountable.
Seeing and Serving You
I was honored to be the Guest speaker at the Lake County League of Cities. A representative from each of the 14 cities in Lake County was there to share our common goal of making Florida’s cities the best in our nation. I spoke and took questions about how I continue to work to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of our federal agencies. As your representative in Congress, it is my pleasure to assist you with issues involving federal agencies. If you are in need of assistance with a federal agency, call 352-241-9220 or visit: webster.house.gov/casework .
It was great to meet with Amber Word and her staff at her State Farm Agency in Tavares. During our visit, Amber shared how she serves the community, including educating them on the importance of life insurance. Thank you, Amber, for your effective assistance with Auto, Home, RV, Boat and Life Insurance needs of our community.
On Wednesday, I joined small business owners at the Solutions Networking Group held at Cheeser’s Palace Café in downtown Clermont. Solutions Networking started in 2020 to help small businesses get together and navigate the economic challenges of COVID. Since then, it has continued to bring people together and help the community grow. I provided an update on the issues I’m working on in Congress, and how I’m working to get our economy back on track to help small businesses thrive. Solutions Networking started in 2020 to help small businesses.
I also had the pleasure of visiting with Robin Maynard-Harris, Libby’s daughter and founder, of Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation which was formed in 2007 just a year after Robin and Marty lost their mom, Libby Maynard, to Stage IV Breast Cancer. The Mission of Libby’s Legacy Breast Cancer Foundation is to provide comprehensive services to the underserved through education, mammograms, and follow-up diagnostics on the journey from diagnosis to survivorship with the compassion to ensure no one fights alone.
I visited the Lifeboat Project with Jill Bolander Cohen, CEO & Founder, and Ed Gilbert, Chief Strategy Officer. For 10 years, the Lifeboat Project has been providing wraparound services, awareness, and education to end human trafficking in Central Florida. While in Congress, I have advanced and supported legislation that provides local organizations and law enforcement officials with more tools and resources to combat human trafficking, service victims and hold perpetrators accountable.
In Apopka, I recently visited and toured Loaves & Fishes, a non-profit that provides food, household items and assistance to those in need. Lory Reeves, Director, and Karen Valiente, Senior Director, Lory, staff and volunteers are celebrating 40 years of service to the community! They serve 300 families currently which is 282 people weekly and they also serve 35 homeless people a day. Thank you for the work you do!
I had the pleasure of visiting with some of the military veterans, guardians and volunteers at The Villages Honor Flight monthly lunch in Leesburg. At the lunch, I spoke with Al Flohr, a 99-year-old WWII US Navy Veteran, who recently contacted my office about obtaining military awards that he deserved from his honorable and brave military service during WWII. After our office contacted the US Department of Navy and received Mr. Flohr’s awards, The Villages Honor Flight leadership organized a special presentation for Mr. Flohr where he was presented the following awards: Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal with four bronze star campaign, WWII Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Service medal with Asia Class Honorable Discharge lapel button, and the Honorable Service Lapel Button, Known as the “Ruptured Duck.” We owe our veterans, like Al Flohr, a debt we can never repay, and my office is grateful for the opportunity to serve our veterans with honors, awards, and medals for their military service.
