Congressman Greg Stuebe March 10, 2024
March 10, 2024 Dear Floridian, This weekend marks the time of year when we continue the antiquated practice of changing our clocks. For years, I’ve been at the forefront of the movement to abolish this practice and instead embrace the concept of permanent Daylight Saving Time year-round. The benefits are abundant, ranging from bolstering our agriculture economy to enhancing public safety. Taking concrete steps towards this goal, I’ve championed bills both at the state and federal levels, aiming to preserve more of our cherished Florida sunshine throughout the year. Additionally, I had the honor of hosting Ms. Gillian Kaye, an advocate for the safe return of all Hamas-held hostages, including her stepson Sagui Dekel-Chen. The presence of Ms. Kaye and Sagui’s father, Jonathan at the State of the Union this week was critical to help keep national and international attention on bringing all six remaining American hostages home. I also was happy to vote in support of the Laken Riley Act this week. This legislation addresses illegal immigrant crime and further underscores our commitment to securing our borders to prevent such incidents in the future. As a member of the Weaponization subcommittee, I participated in a hearing to expose concerning instances of massive government surveillance, particularly regarding the financial data of American citizens. To receive frequent updates about the work I’m doing in Congress, I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on Rumble, follow me on Gettr, follow me on Truth Social, follow me on Instagram, and follow me on Twitter. Keep reading for the full update. Thank you and God bless, Congressman Greg Steube

Joining Families of Our American Hostages at the State of the Union
I was honored to have Ms. Gillian Kaye, an advocate for the safe return of all Hamas-held hostages, including her stepson Sagui Dekel-Chen, as my distinguished guest for the 2024 State of the Union. The presence of Ms. Kaye and Sagui’s father, Jonathan at the State of the Union this week was critical to help keep national and international attention on bringing all six remaining American hostages home. Additionally, I participated in a bipartisan press conference on Capitol Hill alongside the families of Americans held by Hamas, underscoring the urgency of bringing the hostages home.

Passing The Laken Riley Act to Fight Illegal Immigrant Crime
This week the U.S. House passed the Laken Riley Act, H.R. 7511, with a vote of 251-170, in effort to combat illegal immigrant crime. I was honored to vote in favor of this critical legislation. The legislation requires Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to issue detainers and take custody of illegal aliens who commit theft-related crimes, such as shoplifting, as defined by state and local law. The bill, aimed at equipping ICE and state governments with enhanced tools, addresses key immigration issues, including condemnation of President Biden’s weak border policies and empowering state Attorneys General to pursue injunctive relief. The passage of this act underscores a bipartisan commitment to restoring the rule of law and ensuring justice for victims like Laken Riley, whose tragic murder could have been prevented with effective immigration enforcement measures.

Exposing Massive Government Surveillance of Americans Financial Data
As a member of the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, I joined a hearing where we examined troubling evidence of federal law enforcement agencies engaging in extensive surveillance of American citizens’ financial information, without proper justification. This surveillance, conducted by agencies such as the Treasury Department’s FinCEN and the FBI, appears to target individuals based on political and religious affiliations protected by the Constitution. As a member of this subcommittee, I am committed to ensuring transparency and accountability in our government agencies to protect the fundamental freedoms of all Americans.

ABC ACTION NEWS | Sarasota stepmom of man held hostage by Hamas attends State of the Union “Kaye has been satisfied with the government’s efforts, but Steube believes more can be done. ‘I can’t think, for the life of me, they don’t have an idea or know exactly where these people are being held, and we should send our special operators in to get them and get our American citizens back home,’ Rep. Steube said.” Read more here. DAILY SIGNAL | Jordan Peterson Warns Congress: ‘We Are in Danger of Eliminating the Private Sphere’ “Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., said that it’s ‘absolutely insane, the level of the deep state acting to go after pro-life groups, pro-gun groups.’ ‘The U.S. Department of Treasury told banks to be on the lookout for use of debit and credit cards for the purchase of legal firearms,’ Steube said. ‘It’s appalling that a federal agency would ask private companies to spy on legal business transactions.’” Read more here. BREITBART | GOP Reps expect to engage in border ‘blamefest’ at SOTU “Rep. Congressman Daniel Webster
The Webster Wire Listening to FloridiansDear Friends: Last week, I along with several colleagues introduced legislation to declare the crisis at the southern border an invasion. This will help bolster the legal arguments of states in federal court. Secretary Mayorkas dereliction of duty to enforce our border laws have turned every state into a border state and are forcing state officials to take action to protect Americans. I’ve been to the Southern Border in Eagle Pass, Texas and seen the crisis firsthand. Thanks to President Biden’s failed border policies, there have been over 8 million illegal border crossings, with over 340 known individuals being on the terrorist watchlist. Make no mistake, this is an invasion of our nation’s borders. I have and will continue to advocate for and support policies and legislation that secures our borders and sensibly reforms our immigration laws.
Protecting Seniors Access to MedicationsI recently co-sponsored H.R. 5526, the Seniors’ Access to Critical Medications Act of 2023 that would make permanent a waiver issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) during the COVID-19 public health emergency (PHE). This waiver allowed Medicare patients to receive critical medications by mail or allow caregivers and family members to obtain medications for them. A priority of mine is delivering on our promises to seniors and ensuring that they have the care they need. I am committed to protecting Medicare, keeping our promises to seniors, and preserving retirement security for every generation. Ensuring our Veterans the BEST CareServing veterans and ensuring they receive the care and benefits they earned is one of my top priorities. Last week, I co-sponsored H.R. 7434, the Better Examiner Standards and Transparency (BEST) for Veterans Act, which would ensure only licensed health care professionals conduct medical disability examinations (MDEs) on behalf of the VA. We must ensure licensed health care professionals are conducting MDEs that will allow for more accurate and efficient disability ratings. If you’re a veteran or know one in my district who needs assistance with their VA benefits, please contact me. Following the EvidenceHouse Republicans are following the money, evidence, and proper procedures as we investigate President Biden’s influence peddling scheme. Last week, the House Committees on Oversight and Judiciary held a deposition of Hunter Biden as part of their ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Biden. The evidence uncovered in his testimony confirms much of the evidence we uncovered to date; however, parts of his testimony are inconsistent with other witnesses’ testimonies indicating the need for a public hearing. I applaud Oversight Chairman James Comer and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan for releasing the transcript of Hunter Biden’s deposition before the committee to the public. Government accountability and transparency are among my top priorities, and I will continue doing my part to ensure that President Biden and his Administration are held accountable for not enforcing federal law and abusing their powers. Seeing and Serving YouIn the district, I spoke to the students of East Ridge High School who are participating in the Capitol Hill Challenge of Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Foundation. The SIFMA Foundation is dedicated to fostering knowledge and understanding of financial markets. I was welcomed by Susan Paul, Economics Teacher, and Principal Julie Robinson-Lueallen along with the students and other staff.
_______________ In Washington, I recently met the CEO of Community Healthcare Centers Inc., Dr. Debra Andree. We discussed their workforce development needs that are met through training programs, loan forgiveness, and eligible providers. I am pleased to support our nation’s community health centers and am working to ensure adequate funding for the essential services they provide to millions of Americans who access medical care through them. Central Florida is home to several community health centers, and I have visited multiple Health Centers throughout our region. While serving as Speaker of the Florida House, I led the State Legislature to establish one of the first community health centers as a pilot program in Central Florida. Since then, they have grown statewide and provide important healthcare services to Floridians. Thank you, Community Healthcare Centers Inc. for all the work you have done in our community! _______________ Last week, while I was in Congressional committee meetings my legislative staff met with members of Florida’s chapter of the American Legion. They met with the Past Commander and Honor Guard Member of American Legion Post 347, Joan Suelter, and Alternate National Executive Committee Member, Jerry Brandt. In their meeting, they discussed several topics including my support for initiatives that provide our nation’s military members and veterans’ access to education, retraining and employment opportunities. My legislative staff also met with VFW/Auxiliary Post 2093 members, Cate Manley, President of the Apopka Chamber of Commerce, member of the Orlando Mayor Veterans Advisory Board, and Mike Manley, Assistant Adjunct American Legion State of Florida. They discussed my co-sponsorship of H.R. 1282, the Major Richard Star Act, the need to expand mental health resources, and expanding research into whole health therapies and programs. The men and women of our military routinely face unique risks in the line of duty. I remain committed in ensuring our veterans receive the care and benefits they earned. We owe you a debt we can never repay.
_______________
Lt. Col Bath Crane, Cadet Maj Carter Hall, and Cadet 2nd Lt Haywood Ball, members of the Florida Wing of the Civil Air Patrol also met with my legislative staff. They shared their stories on how Civil Air Patrol has impacted their lives, supported our great state of Florida, and shaped our nation. Thank you for your commitment to serve our community! _______________
Pam Jones, Community Relations Representative for West Orange County, attended the West Orange Chamber Ribbon Cutting for Toole’s ACE Hardware with Chamber President Stephen Lewis. Walter Toole, Executive Chairman, and Neil Asma, President, and CEO, welcomed the chamber ambassadors to the new Hamlin store in Winter Garden!
_______________
Pam Jones also attended the West Orange Chamber Ribbon Cutting with Orange County Officials for the new Taborfield Park. Chamber members and the community joined with Orange County Commissioner Nicole Wilson, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings, and Matt Suedmeyer, Orange County Manager of Parks & Recreation, to celebrate the 6.5 acre park. The $1.5 million park was built beside Castleview Elementary School. Parks are being built like Taborfield Park throughout Orange County in conjunction with the schools to give children and youth more outdoor space. _______________
Cindy Brown, my Community Relations Representative for the City of Leesburg, joined with the Leesburg Chamber of Commerce to celebrate with Ali & Steven Stafford at their 1 year Anniversary Ribbon Cutting of Simple Nutrition on Main Street in Downtown Leesburg. Congratulations, Ali, and Steven, for providing healthy options like nutritious shakes, smoothies, protein bowls, and protein waffles for the community.
_______________ Cindy Brown, my Community Relations Representative also for the City of Wildwood, recently attended a ribbon cutting for Wildwood Elementary School’s new parking lot, which meets a need and is appreciated by school families and the community. Joining in the ceremony was School Board Superintendent Rick Shirley, School Board Member Sally Moss, City of Wildwood Commissioner Joe Elliott, Wildwood Elementary School Principal Brittany Brown, and Representatives from the City, including the contracting, engineering, planning, and designing Consultants. Congratulations to all! Your servant, Daniel Webster |

Constituent CornerA veteran from Sumter County received a favorable decision from the VA on a pending claim, but the funds had not been dispersed. Our office contacted the Defense Finance and Accounting Services who confirmed the necessary forms had been provided to the VA. Our office then reached out to the VA about receipt of the audit, and shortly after the funds were dispersed. Constituent services is a critical element of our congressional office. The federal government is a massive operation, and my office is available if you ever need assistance in navigating the bureaucracy or cutting through red tape. We are here to serve you. Congressman Greg Stuebe March 3, 2024
March 3, 2024 Dear Floridian: Happy Birthday Florida! Today is a monumental day in Florida’s history, as we became the 27th state. We’re blessed to live in the free state of Florida! This week, the House passed a short term Continuing Resolution (CR) to continue funding the government at the same Biden-Schumer-Pelosi spending levels for another week. We must stop spending into oblivion. We are $34 trillion in debt and we must secure conservative policy priorities and shut down the invasion at the Southern border. I sent a letter to Secretary Mayorkas on Friday demanding information about the illegal immigrant arrested by Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office for rape. The Biden administration must answer for when this criminal illegal was released into the interior of the United States and what was known about him. I joined my colleagues this week in introducing The Countering Communist China Act, the largest and most comprehensive legislation addressing the Chinese Communist Party ever introduced in Congress. I announced a new interview in the Veterans History Project Series – a way to feature the accomplishments and military careers of Florida’s 17th district veterans. This interview features Army National Guard Veteran Dan O’Leary. To receive frequent updates about the work I’m doing in Congress, I encourage you to visit my website, like my Facebook page, follow me on Rumble, follow me on Gettr, follow me on Truth Social, follow me on Instagram, and follow me on Twitter. Congressman Greg Steube Demanding Information from DHS on Illegal Immigrant Arrested for Rape in Charlotte County I sent a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Friday demanding information on Santo Felix Cruz-Ramos, a 25-year-old illegal immigrant reportedly from Honduras. Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office arrested Cruz-Ramos on charges of sexual battery in Englewood, Florida after a woman stated to the Sheriff’s office that she had been raped. Thanks to Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas, the world’s criminals know they can easily enter our country and terrorize our citizens. Florida is a law-and-order state. The Biden administration must answer for when this criminal illegal was released into the interior of the United States and what was known about him. As the federal representative for Charlotte County, I take seriously my responsibility to provide oversight of the Biden Administration’s Department of Homeland Security. Floridians deserve better. Read more here. Countering Communist China I joined my Republican Study Committee colleagues this week in introducing H.R. 7476, The Countering Communist China Act. The Countering Communist China Act is the largest and most comprehensive legislation addressing the Chinese Communist Party ever introduced in Congress. I firmly believe the CCP is America’s number one national security threat. The Biden administration has referred to China as America’s “competitor,” but we must treat them as the adversary that they are. Our legislation targets the CCP on everything from data theft and unfair trade practices to their human rights abuses and indoctrination efforts at American universities. We must simultaneously bolster American domestic production to secure our supply chains and shore up our military’s national security authorizations to check China and hold Xi Jinping accountable. Announcing a Veteran History Project Interview Featuring U.S. Army National Guard Veteran Dan O’Leary
Friday I announced a new addition to our Veterans History Project Series, showcasing the remarkable accomplishments and military journeys of the veterans from Florida’s 17th District. This interview highlights the esteemed United States Army National Guard veteran, Dan O’Leary. In the words of Dan O’Leary, ‘freedom isn’t free.’ His steadfast dedication to serving all Americans exemplifies true patriotism. We salute you, Dan, for your sacrifice and duty. Thank you for sharing your testimony of service. Our office will submit the interview to the Veterans History Project, an initiative of the Library of Congress’s American Folklife Center to collect and retain the oral histories of our nation’s veterans. If you are a veteran living in Florida’s 17th congressional district, please click here to participate.

Senator Rick Scott March 2, 2024
Friend, This week, I continued my “Farmers for Rick Scott” tour at Parkesdale Farm Plant City, where I received major endorsements for my re-election campaign from Florida’s agriculture and state leaders, including Florida Commissioner of Agriculture and Consumer Services Wilton Simpson. It’s an honor to have his endorsement. Wilton is a great friend who I have had the pleasure to work with since my time in the governor’s office. We have gotten so much done over the years, but there is still a lot to do. Wilton and I will continue to work around the clock to ensure Florida’s farmers, growers and ranchers have the resources they need to succeed. Recently, our great farmers have faced hardships like citrus greening and natural disasters. That’s why I’m fighting up in Washington to hold Joe Biden and Democrats accountable for using Florida farmers as a political tool to advance their radical agenda. We need to pass my Block Grant Assistance Act that would provide much needed relief for Florida’s farmers, ranchers, and growers. Florida farmers are some of the toughest people I know, and I will not stop fighting for them. I’m grateful for the support of these great Floridians and for your continued support. Together, we’re going to defeat Joe Biden and radical Democrats in November. This election is the most important election of our lifetime. We need to turn things around before it’s too late. And things will only get much worse if Democrats keep control of the Senate and Joe Biden has four more years to destroy our country. But I’m optimistic that a Republican Senate, with President Trump back in the White House, can quickly reverse the damage Joe Biden and Democrats are doing to our great country. -Rick Florida Agriculture groups supporting Senator Scott include: · Florida Farm Bureau · Florida Citrus Mutual · Florida Forestry Association · Cedar Key Aquaculture Association Florida state leaders backing Senator Scott include: · Florida Agriculture and Consumer Services Commissioner Wilton Simpson · Florida Senator Jay Collins, Agriculture Committee Chair · Florida Representative Danny Alvarez, representing Florida’s 69th House District · Congresswoman Laurel Lee, representing Florida’s 15th Congressional District · Plant City Commissioner Jason Jones · Hillsborough County Commissioner Mike Owen SENATOR RICK SCOTT IN THE NEWS WFLA: Florida agriculture leaders endorse Rick Scott at Hillsborough campaign stop The Capitolist: Wilton Simpson endorses Rick Scott for reelection Florida’s Voice: Rick Scott campaign launches ‘Farmers for Rick Scott Coalition’ Florida’s Voice: Wilton Simpson backs Sen. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: March 1, 2024 CONTACT: [email protected]
Democrats’ Hearts are in Havana Tampa, FL – Last week, members of the socialist “squad” were caught traveling to Havana to meet with officials from the Communist Cuban regime. Not only did they secretly meet with the communist regime, these squad members are also vocal supporters of Communist Cuba. They voted against a resolution to stand in solidarity with Cuban protestors who took to the streets to oppose the Communist Cuban government for arbitrarily jailing Cuban citizens. They are also urging the Biden administration to remove Communist Cuba from the list of countries who are state sponsors of terrorism. Statement from Team Rick Scott Spokesman Jonathan Turcotte: “Why hasn’t failed Florida Democrat-turned-Senate-candidate Debbie Mucarsel-Powell condemned this secret meeting between Communist Cuba sympathizers and the Cuban regime? It’s insulting to the thousands of Floridians who fled communist countries that members of Congress are normalizing a regime that arbitrarily jails its own citizens. Congresswoman Mucarsel-Powell should be ashamed of herself for not speaking out against this disgusting behavior by her Democrat colleagues. Would she have joined her colleagues if Floridians hadn’t rejected her, and she were still in Congress? Floridians deserve answers.” ### |
