Meet Blair Allen
Blair Allen is currently an attorney with the Public Defender’s Office, having practiced law in the office for over 16 years. She has worked in nearly every division of the Office — including the trial division, the appellate division, and the administrative division — defending thousands of clients against the Government. She is currently a felony division chief within the Office, defending client’s Constitutional rights every day in the courtrooms of Polk County.
Blair grew up in Lakeland, graduating from Lakeland Senior High School. She has a degree in Sociology & Anthropology from Washington & Lee University, and she has a law degree from Stetson College of Law.
Blair currently lives in Lakeland with her husband Eric Gardner and their 4 children – ages 4 to 13. Blair is heavily involved in the community. She is a member of the Lakeland Republican Club, the Republican Women’s Club of Lakeland, the Lakeland Rotary Club, the Junior League of Greater Lakeland (sustaining member), First United Methodist Church of Lakeland, and Hospice Women of Giving supporting Good Shepherd Hospice – as well as other groups.
If elected, Blair would be the first female Public Defender for Polk, Highlands, and Hardee Counties.

The 6th Amendment guarantees every American the right to a fair trial and the right to effective legal representation when one’s liberty is at issue. The Public Defender employs a staff of 120+ people whose responsibility is to defend the Constitution. The Public Defender serves as a critical check on government power, protecting our personal freedoms from bureaucratic abuse and government overreach. Effective legal representation by the Public Defender’s Office reduces the need for expensive retrials and appeals. A fiscally responsible Public Defender minimizes the economic burden on our court system and avoids wasting taxpayer dollars on wrongful convictions. As the elected Public Defender, Blair Allen would focus on:
– Upholding Constitutional rights

– Protecting against Government overreach
– Promoting fiscal responsibility
